Never meet with strangers from the Internet
When I grew up I was told by my parents to “never meet with strangers from the Internet” and “never get into a stranger’s car”. These weren’t just silly rules that my parents set out for me, but rational perception that society at large lived by. But today, I break these rules on a weekly basis when getting Uber rides.
I recently read a column in the NY Times that got me thinking a bit. I surely understand where Farhad’s is coming from. But social perception, norms and ideas change very quickly, and it’s not unlikely that we’ll look back in 10 years and think “little did we know” about how things like the Internet, money and self-sovereignty will have evolved by then.
It fascinates me a lot to think about these things. I can’t wait to look back in 10-15 years when we have discovered all of the things we never knew anything about in the time of today.
