My wish list for 2018

My birthday is coming up soon, and I was asked; what do you wish for your birthday? This is a hard question, because generally I don’t want many physical things in life. But after a lot of thinking, I realised that I recently have enjoyed reading a book before falling asleep. For some reason, I have never enjoyed reading fictional books. The few books that I have enjoyed reading have been history books, autobiographies or technical books.

Below is an initial wish list, which I intend to update throughout 2018 with other things I might wish myself.

An Introduction to the Theory of Mechanism Design - by Tilman Börgers is a book about what’s sometimes referred to reverse game theory. This is about creating the optimal rules of any economic or social system, i.e. the fundamental theory that many blockchain and crypto systems are building on. And as I wrote about in The Blockchain “So What?” for a Company, this is a critical skill to hire in your blockchain team.

Cryptoassets: The Innovative Investor’s Guide to Bitcoin and Beyond - by Chris Burniske is a book that presents a framework for how cryptoassets can be priced. This book have been widely discussed by investors and institutions alike. Personally, I’m not interested in this book for the sake of my own investments (I don’t trade a lot of crypto). I’m more interested in this book to get a better understanding of how institutions that are entering this space will interpret and value the technology that I’m so passionate about.

Infinite Jest - by David Foster Wallace. I mentioned in the introduction of this post that I have never enjoyed reading fiction. But I have been told that David Foster Wallace is different.
